Experience
oh, where do i start.
so i started using ebay the 11th. i didnt ACTUALLY plan to bid on anything at first, in fact i didnt even want to do the assignment because i didnt feel like "wasting" money on something that in the end i might not need, simply for an assignment. later i forced myself to log onto ebay and check it out, see if i liked anything. i had in mind an IDEA of what i would plan to get if i were to do the assignment, and that was solely clothing. a few seconds later i saw several pieces of clothing that i fell in love with and checked them out, an as i did that i was still deliberating if i should buy them or not. i came to the conclusion, or excuse persay, that well hmm its an assignment right ? so i HAVE to get it done. so i decided to, YES fulfill my need and bid on an item. then i bid on two more. then i bid on 3 more. then i bid on four more. that night i won something, but not the item i ORIGIANLLY planned on getting, item A. what happened with item A: i watched it the whole night. at one point i was in the lead, then i was outbid, i was in the lead, etc. when it came down to the wire, 25sec i was still being outbid and tried in the last 2sec to bid higher, but i couldnt and lost damn item A. i got really really frustrated and i guess that led me to bid on other things; having the satisfaction of winning other items and not A. in the process of my addiction that lasted about 2wks, i bought about 5 items. i realized a couple days ago. as i was watching an item on its last day, that i REALLY did not need to spend money i need for other things, on unnecessary things.
Analysis
capitalism comes to play its role in the sense that some people will be willing to pay however much necessary to get what they want, and what that means for the seller/company is more profit. ebay = addiction = more $ for seller (less for consumer).

Walmart Trampling Analysis
What does the walmart article say about the AWOL?
Whenever the Price decreases, demand goes up and because of such sale, people become savages and hunger to get as much of anything and everything they can. What it says about the american way of life is that we are to focused on $$ and $$ and more $$. We’ve become such an advanced, materialistic nation in such a short time. We don’t have our priorities straight. People are prioritizing mere stuff over life. Money you can get back, but a life you cannot. We spend more $$ on unnecessary things than what is REALLY important. On a fundamental level, economically, the american way of life is all about the conquest and not enjoying the ride ‘till the end, and people might like not enjoying it but overall it makes life meaningless.

Assigment #2
for melanie:
aww. that was cute ;]
after i watched the video, i read your description and realized, like you said, how after you said you were tired you showed clips of where the tiredness comes from. so that was your intention but of course we saw other parts of your way of life. i thought that was a great idea because we all get tired on a daily basis but noone really thought about the little things as such, like you did.
:]
for jia min:
i liked the video, i guess you are a true anima and manga fan XD i read manga/anime too! i love it! although i havent read a lot of books/series. you should reccomend me some books to read and shows to watch!
;]
for karl:
i liked how simple it was.
i think for all of us, friends and family are essential to our way of life and so i think your idea of just showing them was great.
;]
for alijo:
i thought the simplicity in your video really did show who you are. even if you didnt have a description or analysis, i think people would get who you are. of course there are other things that are part of your way of life that you didnt include but i think you did a good job anyways
;]
for sandy:
oh i loved it :D!
forever the real sandy lol
i had no idea you played volleyball! well thats good :] good luck. and i loved your sketches/drawings. the fahion designs, i thought, were especially good. i think you should continue keeping it as a hobby, or pursue it even (if you want).

AWOL [08]
Description
1. what have you included in this video?
here i have included pictures of me, family/friends, my hobbies/intrests and things i believe in.
2. Explain how different parts of the video relate to your way of life:
all four parts of the video relate to my way of life.
i included myself and family (mother, father and brother) in the beginning because those of course are essential to me and they always come first in my life. family, especially in my culture is very important and comes above all else. Then i decided to mix pictures of friends with my intrests and my beliefs. These are the next few things that come in my "universe of obligations". Friends and sociability are very important not only to me, but in general. Having people support you and simply be there for fun or whatever else is key to a healthy life. i also wanted to show some things that i am pro- and against. the things that i show, my beliefs, i felt were essential to show in this little video of my "way of life" because i feel very strong about them and i am constantly thinking about them day in and day out. i also showed food (,candy and drinks). if i didnt have food, over time i would die. i think i could survive without shelter, although of course i do not take it for granted, but without food i dont think i would.
3. What’s seems good about your way of life? What’s bad? What’s neutral?
im perfectly fine with my way of life, i think the majority of it is good or neutral, well probably 60%. the bad aspects, which ironically i did not include in the video, would probably be procrasination, being a couch potato, use of the internet for long periods of time, sometimes not going forth and putting action into the change that i believe is necessary for the world (not voicing my beliefs), and a plenty other things.
4. What would you have liked to have included, that is important to your way of life, but weren’t able to?
pictures of some family that are more close to me than others. one of them is my grandmother. shes really important to me, i literally see her like a second mother and she lives with me so shes part of my way of life and i would have liked to include her in the video. other things i would have like to include would be my aspirations for the future. every day i think and act upon what i want to do for the rest of my life, or the next 40 years. determination, success, & hope is important to my way of life. i would have liked to include more of my girlfriend. i talk to her and see her almost everyday, i love her and shes really important to me. i also would have liked to include other hobbies of mine.
Analysis
5. What’s going on with your way of life? What seems to be the general pattern or direction or point or situation?
a general pattern in my way of life is someone who is young and is finding thier place in life. someone who questions and wonders a lot about things. someone who is trying to defeat wrong and do right, and show the rest of the world how to as well by my own example. someone who is striving and determined to keep peace, love, happiness and not war in her own little (personal) life, while coping with the many constant obstacles shes dealt with.
6. How do the good, bad, and neutral in your way of life fit together?
7. Does your way of life seem like a “typical American Way of Life”? Why or why not?
well i dont know if i would call it a typical american way of life. in fact when we first got this assignment and were asked to write down what is the "AMERICAN" way of life, i honestly didnt know what to say. and i didnt know because i believe that because america is a land of immigrants, people from all over the world, there is no typical american way of life. i mean i do agree that there may be several things that we all have in common, no duobt, and that set us apart from other places but in the end we all live our lives differently and do different things and perhaps THAT is the "american" way of life.
well goodness. there are a TON of things about my way of life that i want to know more about. e.g. why do we have the scheduled times we do? like why do we go to school for 7 hours while others only 4 or 5. why do we wake at a certain time and then sleep at a certain time. how is it that the majority of americans are lazy? couch potatos? internet addicts? in general, why are we so ignorant and blind to the truth? why are we so violent? compared to canada, america is a scary place, many of us live in fear of arms, etc.
